Santa Claus is coming to town… tonight!
For the fourth year in a row, the Christmas season is bringing two "famous guests" to Maricopa, and this year local firefighters are helping them out!
Tonight at 6:00, the Maricopa Fire Department will pick up Santa and Mrs Claus in one of their fire trucks and escort them safely through the local highway construction to the "Southwest Pole" in Desert Cedars.
Richard and Linda Huggins, Maricopa residents since 2006, decorate their home each year for the City of Maricopa’s "Holiday Homes on Parade" event. As a bonus, the couple appear as the Clauses each weekend through the holiday season to hear what local kids hope to find under the tree come Christmas morning..
The children of the community are invited to greet them as they arrive this evening and let Santa know what’s on this year’s wish list! Can’t make it tonight? Santa and the misses will be available every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm, through Christmas.
What will it cost for your kids to sit on Santa’s lap? Only a non-perishable food item to be donated to F.O.R. Maricopa, or a toy item for the Maricopa Fire Department toy drive. A one-time single parent herself, Linda says “There is nothing worse than a parent having to worry at Christmas on ‘How am I going to be able to provide my child with a toy from Santa when I can’t afford it?’”
If you go:
Santa and Mrs Claus will be appearing every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm, at their residence, 44267 West Cypress Lane, in Desert Cedars. Take John Wayne Parkway (SR347) south to Bowlin Road, turn left to Greythorn Drive, left again, then one block to Cypress. Turn right, go one block and look for the Christmas lights!
