Maricopa Police announce new Explorer Program

Maricopa PoliceThe Maricopa Police Department has announced its first Maricopa Police Explorer Program Meeting.

The Meeting will be held on July 28th, 2009, at 6:30 pm, at Butterfield Elementary School Library located at 45012 West Honeycutt Avenue. This meeting will be an informational meeting and will be open to all members of the public. All those interested in the Explorer Post must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Explorers are police volunteers and as a result certain criteria must be met.

Prospective Explorers must live in the boundaries of, or in close proximity to the City of Maricopa.  They should be at least 14 years of age, but no older than 20, at the time of application.

Prospective Explorers over the age of 18 need not be full time students but must possess at least a G.E.D.  Those under the age of 18 must be enrolled full time in school and maintain at least a “C”, (2.0) grade point average.

Prospective Explorers shall be of good moral character and maintain satisfactory citizenship.  They shall have no felony or serious misdemeanor charges, which would eliminate them from consideration as a Police Officer.

Prospective Explorers must be able to complete a written application and an oral interview conducted by Advisory Staff.

This meeting will recognize those who will be admitted to the Explorer Program and those who wish to join will have the opportunity to collect an application. The Explorer Advisors will provide a short informational presentation and will be available to answer questions.
