Charity golf tournament a go
Registration and sponsorship is now at the “break even” point, meaning plans for a charity golf tournament can now go ahead. The tournament, to be held Saturday, June 14th at The Raven at South Mountain golf club, will benefit 2 year-old Reiley Lake.
Reiley was born full-term in 2006, and everything seemed perfect with her at first, but in the subsequent two years she has been plagued with a number of ailments that have slowed her development and left her relying on a feeding tube for nutrition.
What’s most frustrating for her parents, John and Susan Lake, is that the cause of her condition is still mostly a mystery. Since the doctors in Arizona that have seen Reiley have been unable to clearly diagnose her problems, John and Susan have been trying to raise funds to take Reiley to a specialist in Ohio. After that, the likely next step is a 4 to 10-week stay in an intense feeding therapy program in Richmond, Virginia.
These treatments will be at the minimum $6000 if insurance covers it, and to the tune of $20,000 to $30,000 if not. The Lakes have been working feverishly to raise the needed funds, and the golf tournament will help.
Cost is $100 per golfer which will include a round of golf, golf cart, lunch, and one raffle ticket for drawing for a 42″ Flat Panel TV. Hole sponsorships are also available for $1000.00. It includes a foursome of golf, a 3 x 6 Banner with company name and logo and a t-sign with company name and logo, lunch for the four and four raffle tickets.
Right now enough golfers and sponsors are signed up to cover the costs of staging the tournament. More are now needed to raise the actual funds for Reiley’s medical care. There is room for 100 more golfers and 12 more sponsorship slots available.
