Maricopa remembers victims of September 11th
Those who died as a result of the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks were remembered today, the seventh anniversary of this tragic event.
The ceremony took place in front of Butterfield Elementary School, Honeycutt Road and Maricopa Groves Parkway. Community leaders, and students and staff, watched as the school’s first flag was raised at 9:11 am.
Members of Maricopa’s Police and Fire Departments were present, as well as Public Safety Director Patrick Melvin. The Maricopa Fire Department also presented their Pipes and Drums Brigade.
Speakers took the time to remember those who lost their lives 7 years ago, both the victims and the heroes that died trying to save lives. A heartfelt thank you from those present was given to our Public Safety personnel in honor of their continued commitment to help those in need.
