Maricopa, AZ – On Saturday, September 15th, 2012 is the fifth annual “Kids Day Maricopa” The event promotes Health, Safety, and Environmental Awareness. Dr John A. Donohue will be hosting and coordinating the event from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm at Maricopa Wells Middle School 45012 West Honeycutt Ave. The Mayor has signed a proclamation dedicating the 3rd Sat of Sept. as “Kids Day” in the city of Maricopa. Senator Steve Smith will be in attendance and speaking at the event.
The event will provide essential information on crime prevention, child safety, and environmental awareness. The Maricopa Police Department will be on hand to provide FREE fingerprinting of all the children along with bringing Police cars, Police motorcycles, the K-9 Dog Unit. Additionally, there will be special appearances by “Smokey Bear”, McGruff the Crime Dog and other loved fire and crime characters.
The Maricopa Fire Department is bringing a fire truck and the safety house. They will teach fire safety tips. Ak-Chin Fire will provide seatbelt safety. Dr. John A. Donohue will provide FREE health screenings, and will be distributing vital information on disease prevention and health promotion. In addition, there will be Bicycle safety, Drug Awareness with M.A.S.H. coalition, Internet safety with Judge Sully, Healthy Eating and Exercise will be taught. There will be a Stranger-Danger and Safety demo from ATA Karate kids. D.S.P.A. and Desert Star Gymnastics will perform. “We will also provide Free balloons, Free food and drink for everyone. There will be special Give-aways and Free prize drawings throughout the event! In addition, we are looking to fund children’s programs in Maricopa, says Dr. John A. Donohue.
The event is Free, and “this year is especially exciting for Kids Day Maricopa, The clown team Sgt. Pepper & Gooburr will be performing and teaching the children about Stranger Danger. “We encourage the entire community to join Dr. John A. Donohue by participating in this unique, fun-filled community event!”
