City hosting public meeting to gather input on public transportation
On Thursday, January 7th, the City of Maricopa Development Services Department will host a public meeting to gather information from potential transit riders, their travel behavior and obtain their input on transit issues.
This is the first public meeting in a 5-month Transit Feasibility Study Update that will identify potential transit solutions for Maricopa residents. The study will not only define the most promising routes internal and external to Maricopa, but will also build a solid foundation for possible future transit expansion within the Pinal County region.
“We need all potential transit riders to participate in the transit study update,” said Director Brent Billingsley. “The information we gather will be incredibly valuable in addressing transit needs that will affect the entire community for a long time.”

ADOT to repair I-10 accident damage
Drivers traveling along eastbound I-10 this week near Casa Grande should be prepared for lane restrictions and slower traffic.
ADOT crews will be working on Wednesday and Thursday to repair a section of roadway that was melted during a fire caused by last week’s 22-vehicle pile-up south of McCartney Road.
Traffic will be restricted to one lane from 7:30 am to 1:30 pm on both December 30th and December 31st. The speed limit in that area will be reduced to 45 miles an hour. Drivers should be alert for construction equipment and personnel and are urged to drive safely through the work zone.
Crews will repair damage to the travel lane pavement by removing the damaged asphalt and repaving the section of highway melted by the fire.

Suspect arrested in theme park pass scam
Following a two month investigation Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) Detectives assigned to financial crimes arrested a Phoenix area man for selling fraudulent theme park passes to unsuspecting buyers.
The suspect advertised the tickets and passes on CraigsList and would then meet the victims in person to sell groups of un-validated passes stolen from area retailers for hundreds of dollars. Many of the victims and their families made the trip to southern California only to find out that the passes were of no value.
Angered and frustrated, victims contacted DPS detectives who began a thorough investigation which led to the arrest. The suspect was booked into the Maricopa County 4th Avenue Jail on charges of Fraudulent Schemes, a class two felony. (A.R.S. 13-2310)
