Snider: November is the month to be thankful
As both nighttime and daytime temperatures moderate, and the true signs of the arrival of Fall and Winter can be seen as license plates driving our streets change colors, it’s time to reflect on those things for which we’re thankful.
My partial list contains: my family; their (and my) health; the opportunity to serve the people of Pinal County; my friends and their families; the many civic and community organizations that labor so hard to help those less fortunate; those who serve and protect us at home and abroad; the hard working, dedicated, men and women who labor on our behalf in local, county, state, and federal government; and the honor and privilege of living in the greatest country in the world – the United States of America.

At their regular public meeting last week, the Pinal County Board of Supervisors introduced the county’s new Emergency Management Director, Lou Miranda. Miranda previously served as Director of Emergency Management for Yuma County but also has a background as a budget and management analyst.

Local bridge dedicated in honor of fallen officer
On Monday morning, the City of Maricopa held a ceremony to dedicate the Officer Shane Figueroa Memorial Bridge, formerly known as Honeycutt Road bridge.
City officials were joined by family members of Figueroa and representatives from the Maricopa Police Department, along with fellow officers from the Phoenix Police Department, Pinal County Sheriff Department and the Mesa Police Department.
The Maricopa Fire Department Drum and Pipe Corps opened the ceremonies, followed by a flag presentation by a joint Maricopa Police and Phoenix Police Honor Guard. Maricopa City Councilman Edward Farrell read the official Resolution, followed by comments from Phoenix Police Chief Jack Harris as well as Maricopa City Councilman Joe Estes.
