Project saves Pinal County taxpayers money while preserving records

A goal stated in Pinal County’s Managing for Results has been accomplished and it saves money and preserves public documents.

Pinal County’s Planning and Development Department has achieved 100 percent compliance with both legal and policy requirements by having its own Records Retention Policy. This will make Pinal County one of the first in Arizona to have its own retention policy on record with the Arizona State Library’s Archives and Records.

The county saved over $20,000 by not having to microfilm all the documents and finding space to store all the paperwork. There are plans to have other departments that have public documents on file to have their paperwork scanned and stored at the State Archives.

Chairman David Snider to hold monthly Maricopa office hours on Tuesday, June 2nd

Pinal County Board of Supervisors Chairman David Snider will hold his monthly Maricopa office hours on Tuesday, June 2nd.

Chairman Snider will be at the interim Maricopa City Hall located at 45145 West Madison Avenue from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm.

“Everyone thinks when the summer comes along, things tend to slow down,” Snider said. “But exactly the opposite is happening in Pinal County. As many of you know, we’re still working on our FY2009-10 budget and the challenge is in the balance between our revenues (diminishing) and our expenses. We will see what the legislature will do when it comes to balancing the state’s books. That will most undoubtedly have an impact upon every resident of the county. County taxpayers should know that I and the Board are working hard to reduce the cost of government, minimize our expenses, and bring in a balanced budget that still allows us to deliver the services and programs we’re required to perform.”

Opinion: Pinal County Deputies Association concerned about County Budget

The Pinal County Deputies Association is concerned about the impending county budget. An across the board decrease in employee pay and terminations are in the works. The question is, does Pinal County NEED to do this at this time? Major questions have been brought up that really need to be answered, especially in light of many of County Manager, Terry Dolittle’s, annoucement.

1. What happened to all the interest money that was accrued while all Pinal County employees were forced to take mandatory compensatory time instead of paid overtime? There has never been a clear accounting of the disposition of that interest money.

2009 Fantasy Football’s Rookie Draft Analysis

staffordI recently concluded a rookie draft for a new dynasty league. It’s a 10-team contract league with a salary cap, points per reception, and IDPs.

There were separate drafts for offensive and defensive veterans as well as an insane number of trades of draft picks before and during the drafts.

While these particulars might affect the drafting strategies involved, after looking at other recent rookie drafts it does appear to be representative, or at least, as representative as any rookie draft held before training camp in a year where there’s no real consensus on value past the third pick.

Babeu: Doing what you said you would

Actually doing what you said you would creates trust and builds credibility.  Failing to honor your promise or explain why you may not be able to fully maintain that commitment creates distrust.  When this occurs in our government, by those who seek public office or by bureaucrats – the perception of dishonesty is magnified.  It has become expected, almost as if we know false promises are being made – to gain favor, calm a complaint or to win an election.

During my election as your Sheriff, I asked for the opportunity to serve you.  I made numerous commitments, promises and spoke of improving emergency response times, improve training, usher in more computers in patrol vehicles, hold employees accountable and step up enforcement against drug smugglers and local criminals.  I view this as a sacred trust that you provided me and I shall honor that with all of my ability.
