From the desk of Pinal County District 3 Supervisor David Snider

It’s the time of year when I know I can leave some windows open to catch those delightful (low) nighttime breezes and my steering wheel won’t leave burn marks on the palms of my hands when I first start the car. Up north the leaves are starting to turn colors – as are the license plates on our streets and roads: it must be FALL!

Although the current stress in our national economy, financial institutions, and housing market has us all worried about investments, employment, and retirement – there are some very worthwhile (and fun!) events taking place this month. In fact, if you sit at home on any given weekend in October, then you’re just not paying attention to a very full calendar of community activities.

CASA GRANDE- Board of Supervisors Chairman David Snider will hold his monthly Maricopa Office hours on Tuesday, October 7th.

The Chairman will be at the Interim Maricopa City Hall, located at 45145 West Madison Avenue, from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm.

“Pinal County is entering a very important time when it comes to planning our future,” Chairman Snider said. “We are currently in the process of revising our comprehensive plan. The participation we have seen by the public and the stakeholders on the first draft of the plan has been fantastic. We are taking those comments and installing many of them into our second draft – the new draft will be available in mid-October with additional comments and input due during a second 60 day review period. If anyone has questions or opinions about the upcoming comprehensive plan, I’d be happy to talk with them about it.”

To The Citizens of Pinal County;

“The successful person has the habit of doing the things failures don’t like to do”…..E. M. Gray

I have asked our new Chief Deputy Jeffrey Kirkham to be the “guest writer” and say a few words to the citizens of Pinal County. Below please find his letter to you. Thank you, and until next month, may God Bless.

Chris Vasquez

As Chief Deputy, I am proud to serve the citizens of Pinal County and bring a different vision to the Sheriff’s Office. As my first 30 days is concluding, I have begun meetings with members of the Sheriff’s Office, community groups, Pinal County residents, and schools.   Through these dialogues we can work together to identify issues that are important in our fight against crime.

Business Profile: Tacos N’ More

Although Maricopa has several choices for Mexican Food, the most unique would likely be Tacos N’ More.  While most of Maricopa’s restaurant choices are located in the newer retail centers to the north, Tacos N’ More has its own building that lies in the southern end of town.

Another difference is in the food.  Different regions of Mexico have different styles of cooking.  The majority of Mexican recipes served in Arizona restaurants come from the Sonora and Sinaloa areas.

Joe and Mercy Vasquez, the owners of Tacos N’ More, come from El Paso, Texas.  El Paso is across the border from the Mexican state of Chihuahua.  The Vasquez family wanted to bring something different to Maricopa, so they enlisted Mercy’s mother to help create their menu using the Chihuahua-style of cooking and seasoning.

District 2 Supervisor candidate endorsing Paul Babeu for Sheriff

I am proudly endorsing Paul Babeu for Pinal County Sheriff.  Pinal County is America’s fastest growing county and although we currently have capable leadership in our Sheriff’s Office, I believe that Paul Babeu is the best choice to lead the PCSO into the future.  Paul’s background of leadership, management, and education, combined with his well-articulated vision for the future, led me to this endorsement.

Pinal County is changing.  We are on the cusp of a population/economic surge that has never been seen in the history of our state.  Although we will develop responsibly and with controlled purpose, our law enforcement must keep pace.  I’m confident that under Paul’s leadership, the PCSO will stay ahead of the community’s needs as we move into the future and take our rightful place as one of America’s finest counties.  Paul Babeu is the future of our PCSO.  He represents bold, competent, visionary leadership.
