Snider to hold September office hours in Maricopa
Pinal County District 3 Supervisor David Snider will be holding his monthly office hours in Maricopa on Tuesday, September 7th.
Supervisor Snider will be at the Interim Maricopa City Hall, 45145 West Madison Avenue, from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm.
“We just passed our fiscal year budget, along with the tax levies for the county and the various taxing districts throughout the area,” Snider said. “This is a good news, bad news scenario for the Board of Supervisors. The good news is that we were able to hold our spending to a level where we could actually lower our part of the tax bill. The bad news is that the state legislature hit not only our county, but all Arizona counties with additional costs to provide mandated services. You will see an extra line in your upcoming tax bill that will explain the additional 28 cents added to your tax bill due to the state legislature’s cost shifts.”

City’s lobbying efforts yielding encouraging results for transportation enhancements
On July 29th, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 5850, the fiscal year 2011 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development and Related Agencies (THUD) Appropriations bill. The bill includes a $1 million appropriation for the City of Maricopa’s State Route 347 Grade Separation Project. The City is very appreciative of the support from our congressional sponsors Representatives Raul Grijalva and Ed Pastor, whose efforts helped to make this appropriation a reality.
For the last two years, the Maricopa City Council has been working with our federally-elected officials in Washington D.C. to advocate for this project. The grade separation project will reroute traffic either over or under the Union Pacific rail line and is one of the top traffic safety concerns of our citizens. The City’s persistence and lobbying efforts have yielded the first results of these intense efforts.
